About the Author
Thomas Huhti is a born and bred "Cheesehead." He developed a serious case of anywhere-but-here at a young age, which took him to China during university. He stayed there, finding ways to flee graduate school, which ultimately led to a five-year stint traveling the globe and living out of a backpack.At a certain point, homesickness hit him like a hammer; he realized he bled Badger red and understood where "home" was. Trouble was, he didn't really know what that meant. After Moon bravely took him on, he thus began the four-year pilgrimage about the state (and to libraries), researching the first edition of Moon Wisconsin, mostly done as a labor of love and as a gift to his parents, worthy Badgers both. He still has itchy feet and continues to research and write guidebooks for countries throughout Asia.Thomas lives in Madison, WI, with his co-pilot Yuki and navigator Bobo.

We just returned from our vacation in Door County, and I found this guide book exceptionally helpful and fun to read. I bought it to replace an earlier version, and I was happy I did so. I saw changes between the two, and we appreciated the additional information about nearby areas. My only hesitation is that readers who have never visited the area should understand that when the author mentions a place is simple and homey, he really means it. Many of the older properties in the area are very basic and look much like they probably did decades ago. It is worth plugging the address into Google to get a look at a property if amenities are important to you.
Great picture on the front cover but disappointment inside. I agree with Cocozelle and Kinn. The title is grossly misleading. Shame on the editors. I expected to be reading about my beloved Door County, with whom I have had an 80 year love affair. The first 66 pages are indeed about Door County but evidently the author ran out of things to say about Door County so rambled on for 122 pages about other locations in Wisconsin. THE TITLE IS GROSSLY MISLEADING. Shouldn't the title of a book fit the actual content? Many entire books have been written about beautiful Door County. Huhit could only fill 66 pages. To find a really good book which is all about Door County look at DOOR COUNTY OUTDOORS by Magill Weber. Five stars from Amazon readers.

Was very helpful on our trip to someplace I never been to. There was a lot of good information
There are not many guide books on Door County Wisconsin. This book has a few color photos in the front of the book but all the other picutes are in black and white. It covers all the major towns and villages that tourist will most likely visit. Lodging, food and sites are well covered with some details and objectivity. Despite a few years old, it appears to be still current and useful. The coverage is pretty much the entire penisula even though more tourists going to Door County and most likely only thinking about the area between around Sturgeon Bay up to the northern tip. I think this will be a useful book for those visiting Door County. I am not aware of another book with this specific coverage.
We love Door County and visit there often. This book gave us even more places to check out.
Only a minor part of the book was about Door County. Most of the book was about other areas of Wisconsin.
doorcounty.com was a lot more helpful...and free.
