Chad Oppenheim is a Miami-based architect whose work has been praised for its ability to transform the prosaic into the poetic. A graduate of Cornell University and a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, Oppenheim has lectured widely and has taught at several architecture schools, including Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design. In 1999, he founded Oppenheim Architecture (Miami, Basel, New York), which has garnered global recognition for large-scale urban architecture, hotels and resorts, private residences, interiors, and furnishings. Oppenheim Architecture has received more than seventy industry awards and distinctions, including the Silver Medal for Design, the highest distinction bestowed by the Miami Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, and the Cooper Hewitt 2018 National Design Award. Spirit of Place.The book unlike any I have seen, truly unique. Its first impression is its size, weight and flush trim, gravitas before even encountering the content. Opening it one is impressed with the binding each spread crosses over without a seam in the center and the pages are thick with a beautiful un-coated surface. Openhiem’s architecture is presented in a visually poetic fashion. The rhythm of the photography placement, size and cropping enhance and resonate with the the nature of the architects work and philosophy. The architecture is inspiring by itself, causing introspection on how to live in our environment. Amazing how a book with just a very few words can produce so much thought. A very nice adventure that you will like to share and experience many times.
